The Central Virginia Cattlemen Association is a beef cattle marketing association based in Central Virginia. CVCA provides beef cattle producers with education and marketing information to help optimize their beef cattle production.

The association was formed in 1998 and is based in Orange, Virginia. The Central Virginia Cattlemen Association currently has over 240 producers.

2014 CVCA Dues

Annual dues are $50 for all producers.  Dues are paid for the calendar year and are not pro-rated. Only producer members in good standing can purchase supplies at CVCA discount prices, participate in CVCA sponsored sales, etc.

 
New to 2014!

Beginning this year, you can pay for your annual Virginia Cattlemen Association (VCA) dues at the same time you remit payment for your CVCA dues. This will also allow you to enroll at the discounted rate of $30 instead of the regular $50 rate for VCA membership.

CVCA Mineral Order Due by Thursday, August 14, 2014

​The new mineral prices are in the Document Library on this website for July 2014 to December 2014. The mineral bid was awarded to Renaissance Nutrition, Inc.  The next mineral order and payment are due Thursday, August 14, by 4:30 p.m. with delivery to Somerset Plantation or W.D./Sam Harris on Thursday, August 21 between 12 noon and 1:00 p.m.

The Central Virginia Cattlemen Association (CVCA) will sell over 3,000 head of feeder steers and heifers on Friday, August 8, 2014, at 10:30 a.m.  The sale will take place at Tucker Livestock in Radiant, VA.  All calves are weaned and double vaccinated for blackleg and respiratory diseases.

The calves were born in the fall of 2013 and weaned in mid June then commingled and preconditioned. There will be at least twenty-five single owner loads sold, four additional loads that were comingled in early June, and several hundred head in owner groups in the sale barn for sale. A number of the loads have been started on a silage-based ration and all the cattle have been feed and water trough broken.

The calves are certified Virginia Quality Assured, purple tag, with genetic, health program, and weaned assurance. All calves sold have been vaccinated with at least two 7-way shots, One Shot Ultra containing Pasteurella, and at least two IBR, PI3, BVD, & BRSV shots.  All the calves were dewormed at weaning.           

CVCA guarantee:  All steers for sale are guaranteed not to be stags or buyers will be refunded $150.  All heifers should be open or buyers will be refunded $200 for any heifer that is determined to be pregnant. Documentation from a veterinarian that a heifer is bred or discount from a harvest facility for a stag or other proof determined to be sufficient by the CVCA board will be required for reimbursement.
