The Central Virginia Cattlemen Association (CVCA) was formed in the Fall of 1998. Currently there are approximately 240 producers in the association who own a total of over 24,000 brood cows. Our association headquarters is located in Orange, Virginia. The purpose of the group is to promote and improve livestock production, education, and marketing of beef cattle. CVCA News and Announcements   Title Mineral Orders The next order date for minerals will be Thursday, March 18.  The check and order form must be received by 4:30 p.m. to the Orange Extension Office.  The pickup will be Thursday, March 25, to one of the OMC stores (Orange, Madison, or Louisa).   CVCA Board Meeting The next CVCA Board Meeting will be held Monday, March 15, at 6:00 p.m. at the Orange Extension Office.    Mineral Bid Has Been Awarded to Orange-Madison Co-op The mineral order bid was awarded to Orange-Madison Co-op for the next six months providing Young minerals.  All the mineral mixes have remained unchanged and prices are lower from the previous six months.  Pickup of minerals will be at the three OMC stores.  Mineral order procedures remain the same with checks and orders due on the Thursday one week before delivery.  No exceptions will be granted.  Please place all orders through CVCA and not directly to OMC.  This is the agreement in order to get the reduced prices.  A new mineral order form is listed under "Document Library" on this website.   Time to Pay Your 2010 CVCA Dues Now is the time to pay your 2010 CVCA dues.  Annual dues are $50 for all producers.  Dues are paid for the calendar year and are not pro-rated.  Only producer members in good standing can purchase supplies at CVCA discount prices, participate in CVCA sponsored sales, etc.  For a copy of the membership form, please look under "Document Library" on this website.   Twilight Field Day and Beef Producer Meeting The CVCA quarterly meeting and educational beef program will be held on Thursday, April 8, with registation at 4:30 p.m. at the Orange Research Station.  If you would like to see a copy of the program, please look under "Document Library" on this website.  Please pre-register by calling the Orange Extension Office at (540) 672-1361 by Tuesday, April 6, so proper meal arrangements can be made.   Virginia Forage and Grassland Council Fencing for Controlled Grazing Systems There will be a hands-on fencing school on Thursday, April 8, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Orange Research Station.  Find out everything you need to know about high tensile fencing.  There is a $25 registration fee for this program that is required to be paid in advance with your registration.  The class is limited in the number of people that can enroll.  A copy of the program and registration form is under "Document Library" on this website.
